Vesuvius 12 km to the southeast of Naples is the most favourite destination for travellers from all over the world, the Mount for its beauty has in the past inspired poets such as Wolfang Goethe, Anton Cechov and Giacomo  Leopardi. The volcanic Apparatus consists of a semicurcular Caldera Rim and a recent Cone Vesuvius built inside the old Caldera, the highest part of which is today PUNTA NASONE 1132 mt. The actual crater created from the 1944' eruption is in a fumarolic condition.

We have 230 minerals , here it's easy to find the Vesuvianite and the Augite. Fertile soils in the surronding areas produces excellent wines such as Lachrima Christi and agricultural products, the Piennolo tomatoes and fruits, apricots ,cherry, citrus and walnuts . The Flora is mostly composed by Mediterranean maquis, holm oaks , oak trees, false acacias, the woods with domestic pines, the undergrowth  is mostly composed by  Cytisus scoparius. In the past the ascent to the crater was very difficult, the travellers used to ride on the horseback to the Atrio del cavallo so called because they stopped to refresh the horses before undertaking the ascent. Actually the ascent to the crater has a difference in height of 134 meters the path lenght is 860 meters, times of walk 20 minutes. The Crater visit is by payment.
